Ships Store Program
Ships Store Roosevelt

Mission
The mission of NEXCOM’s Ships Store Program is to provide quality goods at a savings, to provide quality services necessary for day to day living, to provide funding for afloat recreation needs and to promote good morale.

Ships Stores
Ships stores are retail outlets aboard U. S. Navy ships that provide necessities for Sailors stationed onboard. Ships stores are managed and operated by active duty Navy Supply Corps Officers and enlisted personnel known as Retail Services Specialists. Ships stores have a select merchandise assortment that includes food items, beverages and health & beauty aids as well as a limited selection of products such as electronics and uniform items. The ships store is also responsible for a number of quality of life services aboard ship including vending machines, barber shops and laundry services for crew members. Profits generated from sales are turned over to the ship’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program to enhance crew morale.

Ships Stores Ashore
The Ships Stores Program also has Ships Stores Ashore in Diego Garcia (Indian Ocean) and San Nicolas Island and San Clemente Island (islands off the coast of California) to ensure Sailors and Marines have a taste of home when stationed in these remote areas. Retail Services Specialists and civilian personnel manage these ships stores. These stores provide quality products at a savings and profits generated from sales go to local MWR programs to support Navy quality of life, just like NEXs.
