Get your car ready for summer road trips
So, you’ve decided on your destination and planned your route. Before you hit the road, be sure your vehicle is also ready for the trip. Use this helpful checklist to prep your family’s car for travel:
Check your fluids – oil transmission, power steering, brake, windshield washer fluid
Engine Coolant – Don’t overheat. Check levels and condition of hoses.
Brakes – Make sure your brake pads are good and everything is in order to stop your car safely.
Tires – Check tread. Look for bubbles or wear on sidewalls. Make sure they are properly inflated. Inspect the spare tire as well.
Battery – Test and replace if needed.
Belts/Hoses – Rubber exposed to heat will eventually become brittle. Check for bulges, blisters, and cracks.
Cooling/Heat – Have your air conditioning and heating system checked. Clean or replace cabin air filter.
Wipers – Check condition of blades and replace if necessary.
Windows/Mirrors – Make sure all are clean so you can see everything.
Lights/Signals – Ensure all lights and indicators are working. Replace any bulbs that are out.
