How to Safely Host At Home
By Althene Marquez
The Guest List
Keeping the guest list short is important when thinking of whom to invite at your next gathering. Know your size limits by state or locality. The number of guests should also depend on the amount of space in your home. If your guest list includes kids, think about hosting outside. The open space gives kids the freedom to run around. Hosting outside also makes it easier for everyone to social distance.
Food & Beverages
The most important thing to remember here is to eliminate common touch points. Use disposable plates, cutlery, serve ware, utensils etc. (Less dishes to wash, hooray!) Another idea: to- go boxes. Have the boxes filled with food and condiments before your guests arrive and set them up in a fun way. Guests can easily grab a box and enjoy their food. B.Y.O.B. Ask your guests to bring their own drinks. An insulated tumbler is the way to go!
The Bathroom
Ditch the fancy cloth towel and go for paper towels. Make sure to load up on antibacterial hand soap too. If you are hosting outside, you can set up a sanitation station fully equipped with hand wipes and sanitizer.
To Mask or Not to Mask.
To be safe, ask your guests to bring a face mask or covering. This is especially important if any of your guests are elderly or have weakened immune systems. Have a box of disposal faces masks available in case someone accidentally forgets to bring their own.
Have Fun
Times are weird and a lot of things have changed during these last couple months. Now, more than ever, it’s important to socialize with our friends and family while still practicing social distancing. We have to keep each other in good spirits and good company with full bellies.
