The biggest difference between CR123A lithium batteries and alkaline batteries is voltage. The CR123A’s chemistry (LiMnO2), gives it a nominal voltage of 3.0 volts in comparison the alkaline’s 1.5 volts in the traditional sizes of AAA, AA, C, and D.
